Privacy Policy – TopikQuest

TopikQuest ("we", "our", or "the app") is a gamified Korean vocabulary learning app. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Account data

If you sign in (e.g. with email or Google Sign-In), we store your user ID, email address, display name, and profile photo via Firebase Authentication.

1.2 Progress and usage

Your learning progress is stored in Firebase Firestore so you can use the app across devices:

• Mastery level and XP
• Daily streak and activity dates
• Unlocked levels and completed quests
• Battle history and statistics
• In-app purchases and inventory

1.3 Advertising data (Google AdMob)

TopikQuest displays ads through Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may collect certain data to serve and measure ads:

We request non-personalized ads only, which limits data collection. You can further control ad personalization in your device settings (see Section 5).

2. How we use your data

• Provide the app: Save progress, sync across devices, restore purchases
• Improve the product: Analyze usage patterns to enhance features
• Display ads: Show relevant advertisements via Google AdMob
• Communicate: Send optional notifications about streaks, new features, or promotions (if enabled)

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. Where data is stored

Your data is processed and stored using Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage, and related services). Firebase data centers are located in the United States. Firebase is subject to Google's privacy policy and security practices.

4. Data retention

• Account data: Retained until you delete your account
• Progress data: Retained until you delete your account
• Ad data: Managed by Google AdMob per their retention policies
• Backups: May persist up to 60 days after deletion

5. Your choices and rights

5.1 Guest mode

You can use the app without signing in. Guest progress is stored locally and may be lost if you uninstall the app.

5.2 Account deletion

You can request deletion of your account and data at any time. See that page for steps and what we delete.

5.3 Ad personalization

To opt out of personalized advertising:

• Android: Settings → Google → Ads → "Opt out of Ads Personalization" or "Delete advertising ID"
• iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track"

5.4 Data export

6. Children's privacy

TopikQuest is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), Firebase Security Rules, and secure authentication. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

8. Third-party services

TopikQuest uses the following third-party services that may collect data:

• Google Firebase: Authentication, database, analytics (Privacy Policy)
• Google AdMob: Advertising (Privacy Policy)
• Google Play Services: App distribution, in-app purchases (Privacy Policy)

9. International users

If you are located outside the United States, please be aware that your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States where our servers (Firebase) are located.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
